Well, why not? Just kidding. I am not actually sure when or who brought Hanakimi to my attention, however my craze for this series definitely only took rise during my trip to Singapore where I was able to actually purchase more than just two volumes. As for my likely towards this series, there are several reasons, all of which will be listed below.

The first is my ability to relate to Mizuki, I've been through a phrase (or rather, am still going through) where I would attempt to disguise myself as a more masculine character. I wouldn't go as far as to say I wanted to look like a male, but rather I take on a more tomboy-ish style in my dress sense. Although my tomboy nature did come a little more naturally than it did for Mizuki, I still can understand and slightly empathize to her situation.

The second reason is obviously the romance. I'm a romantic at heart, always have been, always will be. I enjoy watching the conflict between Sano and Nakatsu for Mizuki's heart. It is a dreamy situation, but not very realistic. However, like most romantic girls, give me romance in any form and I'll be in heaven.

And my final reason is a combination of the two above, how Mizuki traveled all the way to Japan just for Sano. Call me silly, but what girl wouldn't fall for a guy who did that for them? I know for certain that if I ever met someone who would travel the globe just for me, I'd drop everything I had just for them. It's a highly romantic and silly concept, but what a I wouldn't give to be loved that much!

As for the title, "Fallen Petal". It was derived from the English translation of Hanakimi's Japanese name, and then altered as I saw fit. I had created a plan for this site several months ago and only initiated the actual creation process a couple of days ago. Overall Hanakimi is a lovely series, there are many lovely aspects of the manga and I recommend it to all.
